How Our Foods work on Our Mood

Our brain is the place where billions of neuron cells connected. These cells linked with chemical line called neurotransmitter. As a command center, brain could tell any chemical reaction in our body to kick off based on nutrition in our foods, which will work on our mood directly.

There are two dominant neurotransmitter, Serotonin and dopamine-norepinephrine. Serotonin linked with relaxed mind and attitudes, comfortable feeling, low emotional tension, and focused state. On the contrary, dopamine-norepinephrine intimately linked to active mind and body. D-N responsible for our watchful and alert state also military us into much more spontaneous, selfish, and reactive in our daily activities, increasing our vulnerability from stress.

Food And Dessert

Any nutrition that enters our body could work on chemical balance inside neuron-systems and affecting its function. For example, by now you should understand why your vegetarian friends regularly have more patience than your friends who eat red meat regularly. That is no coincidence at all, the food is talking straight through attitudes.

foods and Mood

Vegetarian menu is rich in serotonin boosters because abundant source of involved carbohydrate. Potatoes, red rice, nuts, beans, and seeds all rich in serotonin. However, though vegetarian diet offers much serotonin, consumption of refined sugars reduce its effectiveness. High fructose syrup could neutralize all the serotonin, so while fruit salad should make us relaxed, adding too much syrup or unhealthy dressing is not recommended. The red meat lovers on the contrary, consumed much unsaturated fats. These unhealthy fats will stimulate yield of dopamine-norepinephrine. Not only that, modern food brought much more danger to our mood. You see, 60% our brain is consisted of fat and very sensitive of fat intake because most of mass yield meats bring also growth hormone, antibiotics, and synthetic beta-carotene from the cattle, our brain chemical balance will suffer much more so that it will yield much more D-N, manufacture us literally stressed out.

Stress after a whole day of work

Taking a break for a while, getting a nice vacation could be helpful in reducing tension in our brain. But when the vacation is over, workload will be increased for two fold maybe more. I say deal with it, but in the smarter way.

Stop smoking, coffee, alcohol, or even black tea. Caffeine, nicotine, and other relaxing substance in those only pacify you momentarily. While you will be more effective at work for a while, your night will be restless, giving you endless circle of nicotine or caffeine addiction. Deep fried foods or pastry products as snacks should also be avoided. You do not need more D-N to deal with your load of works.

Fast food is not a good selection for lunch, try salad or whole grain sandwich. Consider fruit as your best friend whenever you need a snack. Chili pepper in hot foods also helps in reducing stress because it loosen your stiff nerves and advance your blood circulation. For supplements, choose one with vitamin B involved and lysine amino acid.

Pms?

For ladies, menstruation condition regularly is the hard time for us men to interact with you, even in expert way. Pms is undoubted linked in your eating style. Too much junk will not do well with your mood balance. Start to enjoy wholesome foods which boost serotonin. If whole grain is impossible, reduce bread consumption, baked potatoes is nice as a substitute for your carbohydrate source. Consume a lot of vegetables and fruits, including banana. Tofu and tempeh should be a good selection than red meat.

As for dessert and treats, go for yogurt. Lassies and smoothies should satisfy your appetite. Yogurt, while rich in starch, also great source for vitamin B6, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. These substances potentially relax menstrual pain and eliminate the uncomfortable mood before menstruation.

The Muffin Lady strikes again! "Sharing Mountain Recipes" is Randi Lee Levin's second cookbook. Her first cookbook "Baking at High Altitude; The Muffin Lady's Old Fashioned Recipes" won the Colorado Independent Publishers relationship award, the Best First Cookbook in English, Usa and then the Best First Cookbook in the World 2004 award. Her latest book wholly lives up to the quality of the first cookbook.

As a someone who is dating an Italian chef, has some subscriptions to cooking magazines and owns over 100 cookbooks that have been read from cover to cover, I found "Sharing Mountain Recipes" to be one of the best and most wide cookbooks I have ever read. The Muffin Lady incorporates sound advice on cooking techniques at all altitudes, fabulous recipes and puts a lot of love into her work. You will feel like you are sitting in her kitchen trying out recipes with her when you read this.

The book starts off with the statement "There is one fabulous ingredient that goes into everything that I cook and bake. Please do not forget this ingredient, for it is imperative to all recipes. Whenever I am cooking or baking, I add extra spoonfuls of Love to all of my recipes. Love added to all things good, makes them just a minute bit better." approximately all of the recipes have stories about where they came from and how other population responded to them.

This cookbook is for all level of cooks. Levin has basic recipes for starter cooks and breaks down even her most involved recipes so that even the most novice cook will be able to create these fabulous recipes. I was also impressed with the fact that she is known about dissimilar dietary needs. She commonly has some variations of each recipe, the former in all its fattening glory, the heart salutary version and the diabetes kindly version. As the menagerial Director of the Diabetes Foundation of Rhode Island I would not hesitate to suggest this book to families that are adjusting to a diabetes kindly menu (if they promised to use the salutary method variations!).

"Sharing Mountain Recipes" is broken down into some sections together with relieve foods, breakfast, lunch, dinner and of course, dessert. The extreme relieve food section is full of beloved mac n' cheese, mashed potato and chocolate recipes. Oh yes....I can feel my diet going right out the window with these beauties. Each section is filled with recipes from Levin's treasure trove that she inherited from her grandmothers, friends recipes and her own creations.

This book will make a great gift for the Holidays, engagement parties and showers. It would also make a fabulous host gift when I am going to someone else's home for dinner. Well, onto my biggest dilemma for this weekend, am I going to make Aunt Lil's Matzo Ball Soup or Doe's Beef Stew from "Sharing Mountain Recipes"? What would the Muffin Lady advise? Hmmmm.... She would probably give me a taste of something delectable in her kitchen and tell me to do both because there is always next weekend too!

Can You Don a Bikini and Hit the Beach Using the South Beach Diet?

Diet books and fad diets are nothing new. It seems every few months there's a new weight loss program being touted by the so-called experts as the "new miracle diet". We, as consumers, are bombarded by before and after pictures and testimonials from people who have successfully lost weight with some wonderful new program.

Two years ago, another new diet book hit the shelves. It was called "The South Beach Diet", written by Dr. Arthur Agatston. Since its issue in 2003, The South Beach Diet has been listed on the New York Times' bestseller list for an impressive 103 weeks. Dr. Agatston has released companion books, started a fee-based website, and is working with Kraft foods to originate a line of pre-packaged South Beach menu items. How is this diet any distinct from the others, and more importantly, does it work?

Food And Dessert

The main idea behind South Beach is to eat three meals a day along with snacks and even dessert, while avoiding extremely processed foods. Dr. Agatston says that South Beach is not low carb or low fat, but rather good carb and good fat. The diet is broken down into three phases: phase one is very restrictive and lasts about two weeks, phase two is much more open with food choices and lasts until you reach your goal weight, and phase three is called 'maintenance', which should guide your food choices for the rest of your life.

During phase one, you can eat until you are full (not stuffed full, just no longer hungry) from a list of popular ,favorite foods. The list consists of generally vegetables and lean meat, along with seafood, as well as low fat or fat-free dairy products and legumes. You can have sugar-free Jell-o or popsicles as treats; up to 75 calories worth per day. Nuts and natural peanut butter are also on the list, but with limits. You're basically giving up bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, and sugar in all of its forms. The South Beach Diet book claims that you can lose 8-13 pounds in just two weeks on phase one, and that you will lose belly fat first.

Phase two widens your menu quite a bit. You can now eat whole grain bread and pasta, brown rice, elect fruits, and (my personal favourite) sugar-free Jell-o pudding. Still no sugar though, except for the occasional bite of dark chocolate. Good carbs in the form of whole grains and legumes, and good fats in the form of unsaturated, non-hydrogenated things like I Can't Believe it's Not Butter spray and olive oil are all approved.

Once you've reached your goal weight, you're pretty much on your own. Phase three lets you eat within the phase two guidelines, adding occasional treats and 'white' food, but omitting the snacks you've come to depend on. There isn't much advice here, since by now you should know what your body is able to handle. Dr. Agatston recommends that you return to phase two if you find yourself gaining weight again.

Sounds easy enough, doesn't it? The book even claims that you don't need to rehearsal to lose weight with this plan (although it does recommend that you add bodily operation as part of your weight loss effort). While the eating plan is legitimately healthy, there are some drawbacks to this diet - or at least with the way it is presented.

Phase one is very restrictive. Sure, you're only on it for two weeks, and the inherent weight loss is very encouraging. Many people, however, do not lose the 'guaranteed' 8-13 pounds in phase one and get discouraged. Not only that, but suddenly dropping all sugar and refined carbs from your diet can cause dizziness, light-headedness, an inability to focus or concentrate, and constipation (believe it or not). This rapid weight loss phase is designed to operate your cravings, but sometimes the side effects just aren't worth it. If you think you can manage your cravings, head right for phase two.

South Beach also recommends that you use sugar substitutes, specifically Splenda. Some people have problem digesting aspartame, while others prefer to avoid one unhealthy substance and substitute it with a chemically processed alternative. study your options in this case - there are other ways to sweeten foods without sugar or chemicals.

While you're on phase two, your weight loss should slow down to one or two pounds a week, according to the book. This is reasonable, and slow weight loss is undoubtedly healthier than dropping pounds rapidly. It is a balanced diet and has great effects on your health, with the added advantage of losing unwanted pounds. What is confusing as far as the book is implicated though is that there are ingredients in the recipes that aren't found on the recommended "Foods to Enjoy" list. Also, Dr. Agatston asks that you add grains and fruit back to your diet slowly; only one serving a day to start, and gently growth your servings until you find your weight loss slowing down. If you corollary the daily menu plans in the book though, there are several fruit and grain servings for each day.

For anything who needs a structured plan based on numbers, The South Beach Diet is not the way to go. But if you like the free time of not having to count anything and using tasteless sense to lose weight, then South Beach is more of a strategic eating plan than a rigid diet and would work very well for you. Keep in mind that all diets revolve nearby the same principal: take in fewer calories than you burn off. Burn more calories than you consume, and the weight will come off. Eating well and enjoying healthy food is integral to this process, and that's where The South Beach Diet shines.

French shop Chocolate Chiffon Cake

My issue (well, one of them) is that I eat quite a lot. The reason I eat most of the time is because I am emotionally tied to my food. Every time I bite into something it reminds me of a clear place in time. It is assuredly a blessing and I need to make it be not a curse. It is something I have to work on transforming.

As soon as I bit into this beautiful Chocolate Chiffon Cake I was taken back to the French store in Disneyland. French store has always been my popular cafeteria in Disneyland since I was a kid. I always loved the New Orleans quadrilateral setting, the buffeteria style food, the classy tables, and the enchanting jazz band. When you are there you feel surely at peace with the world, with the nice covering air and the happy people. You can see the beautiful french style structure colse to you, the clear blue lake with the Mark Twain next to you, and the Haunted Mansion right in front of you. It is so very aesthetic. The band plays New Orleans jazz and it surely compliments the food, development it even more lively. Even if the band isn't playing you can hear the murmur of population all over the park enjoying themselves. Before you even walk in the door you can smell the aroma of fresh clam chowder and fried chicken. What I immediately zap into when I taste this cake is that occasion when I bite into the dessert. Ever since I was limited I have been getting their chocolate cake. They have these great chocolate cakes with pictures of the characters on the front. There is nothing like that cake and all the memories of the moments I have in that one spot. That is why I will always make this lightly rich chocolate chiffon. It is always yummy. Next time I go to the French store you good bet I will be in the same table upfront with my limited chocolate cake.....feel free to say hi.....

Bikini Body - How To Lose 15 Pounds in Less Than 2 Weeks!

Going on a beach vacation? Do you need to lose 10-20 pounds to fit into your popular bikini in as wee as 2 weeks? Here are some guidelines that will help you achieve that goal:

1. Turn what/where you eat. Firstly, you must stop eating at fast food restaurants. Refrain from snacking between meals. Avoid snacks like potato chips, crackers with dips and connected products. Avoid candy bars, high-fat, rich desserts like cheesecake, etc. Avoid or cut cheeses and if you must, select mozzarella and feta as they are lower in fat than most others.

Food And Dessert

2. Turn food group combinations. Do not eat more than 1 type of carb per meal. In other words select only one of the following carbs: rice, potatoes, pasta or bread. Do not combine any of these during any single meal.

3. Turn your menu. Avoid white carbs such as white sugar, white rice, white flour and connected products. select healthier equivalents like whole grain pasta, whole grain bread, brown rice and yams (instead of potatoes). contain at least 4 meals that consist of fish each week.

4. Don't forget your fruits and vegetables. Every meal should contain a side of vegetables. Adding vegetables to your meals troops you to eat less of the other food groups like starches and meats. Carrots broccoli and cauliflower are excellent choices, rich in fiber and disease-fighting antioxidants. Dress your vegetables with a wee olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon juice and avoid creamy sauces and dressings. Salad dressing should consist of olive oil, apple cider vinegar and pinches of oregano and basil. The vinegar article in the dressing substitutes the need for salt. Have fresh fruit for dessert.

5. cut food intake. If you are overweight chances are you are overeating, unless you have a rare curative condition. One easy way to cut calorie intake is to cut down your normal meal portions to half and add 2 more meals of equivalent size. For example, if you're eating 3 meals per day, each consisting of 800 calories the total calories would number to 2400. So by reducing your meals to 400 calories (half) and adding 2 supplementary meals would equate to 2000 total daily calories (5 x 400). In effect, you are reducing your daily food consumption by 400 calories.

I mentioned earlier that this was easy to do, the fancy being, everybody can visualize what their normal meal looks like or what it consists of. So by this process of visualizing you could quite easily cut your typical meal to half the size. The other thing is this recipe doesn't require a huge cut and is not highly stressful (mentally or physically) as with ultimate calorie restriction diets or meal exchange plans and is therefore easier to follow.

6. And now the most dreaded part: exercise. Don't worry, you'll see that it easily isn't all that bad. There is no avoiding it however: every sufficient weight loss program must combine bodily performance with diet changes in order to produce chronic results. All that's required here is a wee walking. Well, maybe more than a little. easily you will need to walk for 90 wee periods, 6 days a week. "That's too much time," you say.

Well you can make the time if you easily try. You'll have to adjust your program - make it a wee more flexible to allow for these sessions. Although the walking prescribe comes with time requirement it is a relatively easy exercise to achieve for approximately anyone. And it doesn't have to be done all at one time. You can break it down to two 45-minute sessions or one 60 wee and one 30 wee sessions, etc. - at distinct times during the day. Additionally, you don't need to walk at specific levels to produce results. A moderate or gradually brisk pace would be sufficient.

Depending on a person's metabolism and Bmi (body mass index) one could easily lose 10-20 pounds in 2 weeks or less by following these guidelines.

Your Food Pyramid - A Quick Way to Good nourishment

With the availability of data everywhere, knowing the different groups of food has become easier in the past years. The food Pyramid has been improved making it easy for us to use the mixture of salutary foods that should be included in our daily meals. You will observation now that the stripes representing each group of foods have a collection of widths telling you that one group needs to be consumed in a larger volume while leaving the other groups as supplements. The main purpose of such discrepancy is to keep a balanced diet. A exquisite example is the weight given to grains, vegetables and fruits to stress out the point to our body over fatty foods and meats due to the fact that its intake should be minimal. Main bases are the studies made on such food groups; that most of the oily foods and animal products are more risk of confident heart diseases and cancers.

The food pyramid is based generally on median adults without confident condition conditions that need more attention and tolerance. It is meant to guide us and not to tell us exactly what to eat taking away our relaxation to choose. The new pyramid format has been enhanced to supply you the volume of food from different food groups so you can determine where to partition the servings depending on your taste. Take note though that since it's a daily median of food intake, when you start partitioning, you have to keep track of what will be left on a confident group.

Food And Dessert

Translation of the nutritional recommendations to your actual meals will be easier for you once you get familiar with the discrepancy of food indicated on the pyramid. You just need to know the types and group of groups and what each contains. As illustration, you can start adherence to the recommended food intake by putting a group to your plate. Not the actual partition, okay but the group of food types. Half of your plate should consist of green leafy vegetables; a quarter contains those rich in protein and the other quarter for whole grains. Of course, fruits should not be excluded as it should be your dessert. That way, there should be no complicated calculation complicated to ensure you are on the right direction.

All you need to know now is which vegetables are rich in nutrients and which one desirable to your taste buds; the foods rich in protein like egg or fish; and whole grain like corn. A good indicator of a well balanced food is a salutary diet. Remember that each food you consume will have an impact to both your food and physical fitness. That said; you have to ensure that you will be able to assert the right eating habits by using the food pyramid as your daily guide. You can assign the permissible mixture of food groups on each meal considering your taste and the food values. Thus, you also have to consider the affordability of your chosen food combination. Not because you are planning your daily meal you will be spending a lot. Just keep it practical yet in conformance with your food pyramid and you are on your way to a salutary diet.

Passover Foods - What You Need at the Seder Meal

The main Passover activity is the seder which takes place on the first two evenings of the holiday (only one if you live in Israel). At the seder a extra seder plate is used to display the needed foods. They are all symbols or reminders of the story of the redemption of the Jewish citizen from slavery in Egypt. The story is told in the Passover haggada.

The seder meal has some requisite components. The most visible is the matza, the unleavened bread. It symbolizes slavery but also represents self-control. Self-mastery is what Jews need to come to be true servants of their inventor who saved them from Egypt for just that purpose. Round, square, hand or motor made, matza is kosher as long as it's under kosher supervision.

Food And Dessert

Wine or grape juice - four cups for each participant - is also needed. Wine and matza are the two items that need the most care to be kosher.

The next item is maror - a bitter herb. Horseradish root is the sinus-clearing champion when it comes to bitterness. You can also use romaine lettuce. The bitter herb is used at two isolate points in the seder and reminds the participants of the bitterness of slavery.

Also on the seder plate are a bone with meat on it symbolic of the Passover lamb sacrificed until the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed. A hardboiled egg symbolizes the actual destruction of the Temple.

Charoses - a sweet concoction of wine, apples and nuts - is a reminder of the mortar used by the Jewish slaves. You'll need a recipe.

A plain vegetable - like radish or celery are tasteless - and salt water for dipping are also part of the proceedings.

Passover foods for the seder meal must be ready on a weekday prior to the seder night. We don't prepare on Saturday - it is Shabbos, the Sabbath. Use that day to relax and enjoy your company. Find a favorite haggada - it can reallly be helpful. For that brisket , tzimmes or sweetmeat method - well, yes a Passover cookbook. I also suggest that you find a mentor, such as a rabbi and begin planning well in advance. You can do it!
